Meath Rallies for Greener Future with Climate Action Month

More than 25 events have been planned by Meath County Council as part of Climate Action Month 2025, which will run from Friday, 19 September to Thursday, 23 October.

The programme builds on a busy year of climate-focused initiatives, which has already seen the Council reaffirm its commitment to the ambitious targets set out in its Climate Action Plan. Earlier highlights included the Retrofit Expo in April at Buvinda House, along with ongoing Eco Chic and Eco Grow events held across the county.

The upcoming schedule promises something for everyone, with activities ranging from energy and information clinics to Eco Chic clothes swaps, green business networking events, and beach cleans. A special highlight will be a cooking course with celebrity chef Catherine Fulvio, designed to help households cut down on food waste.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Gerry Boyle, Director of Services for Climate Action at Meath County Council, said the packed calendar is an opportunity to bring people together around important environmental goals.

“We are happy to bring such a packed programme of events throughout September and October to help engage with, and educate, the people of Meath on important Climate Action initiatives including sustainability, energy security, and the circular economy.”

Mr Boyle stressed that while the events offer a focus point for awareness and participation, the Council’s commitment goes well beyond a single month.

“Our dedication to spearheading the development of a climate resilient and environmentally sustainable county is a year-round commitment, and one we are happy to undertake,” he added.

Climate Action Month 2025 will also provide local businesses, schools, and community groups with the opportunity to get involved, share ideas, and learn practical steps to support sustainability.

With over a month of activities planned, the Council is urging residents of all ages to take part and play their role in creating a greener, more sustainable Meath.
