New Tesco to open in Meath within the next 12 months

Tesco announced they will be opening a new store in Meath as part of their €40 million investment which will open 10 new stores across the country over the next 12 months.

The new Tesco stores to be opened are a mix of both Tesco Express stores and larger supermarkets and will result in 400 new jobs. Among these will be roles for Customer Assistants, Grocery Home Delivery (GHS) drivers and Line Managers.

The new stories will be established in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Louth, and Meath, bringing Tesco’s total presence in Ireland to 193 stores.

Announcing the new jobs, Tesco Ireland CEO, Geoff Byrne said: "This €40 million investment underscores our commitment to maintaining our position as a leading employer and retailer in Ireland. Our colleagues are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new team members this year and recognising them with market-leading reward and benefits.’

Commenting on this announcement, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, said “Tesco’s announcement today of 400 new jobs stemming from their €40 million expansion is an incredible boost for our local towns and the Irish economy. The creation of these jobs, particularly with the opening of 10 new stores across several counties including Cork, Dublin, and Galway, is a clear endorsement of Ireland's retail sector and workforce. Our Programme for Government commits to driving balanced regional development and further investment in rural communities, and this multi-million-euro investment is a prime example of positive regional impact.”
