Gardai appeal for witnesses after fatal collision

A woman in her seventies has died following a road traffic collision near Drogheda this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of the fatal road traffic collision at Platin Terrace, near Drogheda in Co Meath.

The collision involving a car and a truck occurred shortly after 10.30am this morning, Thursday 3rd July.

The driver of the car, a female in her 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.

No other injuries were reported.

The road is closed to facilitate a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10:00am and 11:00am this morning Thursday 3rd July 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
