The scheme supports communities that have welcomed new arrivals in recent years.

“This significant investment marks a crucial step forward for the project. The building for the centre was recently acquired by the Council, and this funding will enable us to move into the next exciting phase of development. We look forward to creating a vibrant and inclusive space for the young people and the wider community.”

Senator Linda Nelson Murray said the funding highlights the government’s commitment to support local communities to be more inclusive and resilient.

“I am delighted to see this funding for Meath as part of the Community Recognition Fund. This funding has enabled communities to be more inclusive by improving community facilities and community spaces.

“Across Meath there will be major investment, supporting a diverse range of projects. Overall, across Ireland we’ll see over €17 million to deliver 212 community projects.

“In particular, I’m delighted to see funding for a new community building at Cluain Adain in Navan, and the purchase of a wheelchair accessible bus for Flexibus. These upgrades will have a huge benefit for our local community.

“I want to congratulate the community groups who have been the driving force behind the successful applications and look forward to seeing the completed projects.

“This funding allocation is the latest in a long line of initiatives and supports introduced by Fine Gael aimed at making our towns, villages and cities more attractive places to live.

“This funding will enable our communities to become more inclusive, resilient and sustainable places in which to live and raise a family, to visit and to socialise”, concluded Senator Nelson Murray.
