New Clonee Park includes playground that features 15 pieces of inclusive play equipment

Clonee Park and Playground on a 1.6-hectare site adjacent to the River Tolka was officially opened last week.

The new play amenity which was developed by Alanna Homes and supported by Meta, has an enclosed playground of approximately 1,024 square metres which features 15 pieces of play equipment with safety surfacing for the children of Clonee and its environs.

The playground also has two areas of natural play (a grass mounded tunnel and stepping stones) and some play equipment allowing for accessible and inclusive play for children of all abilities.

Clonee Park and Playground also contains approximately 500 metres of footpaths and recreational routes with public lighting, benches, landscaped green areas and other areas reserved to promote and encourage biodiversity, in addition to five parking spaces (including one disabled parking space).

Speaking at the opening, Cathaoirleach of the Ratoath Municipal District (MD) Cllr Nick Killian said: “I am absolutely delighted, as Cathaoirleach of the Ratoath Municipal District which includes this wonderful village, to officially open this beautiful park for the people of Clonee and the wider area.

“And, of course, the showpiece of this superb project is this fantastic 1,000 square metre playground right in the heart of the park, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and play areas for children of all abilities.”

Gordon Tobin, Commercial Manager of Alanna Homes said: “We are delighted to have been involved in the development of this Park and Playground which is a fantastic amenity in the heart of Clonee.”

Aoife Flynn, Head of Community Development at Meta remarked at the event: “We have been part of the community in Clonee since we broke ground on our Data Centre here in 2016. It has been wonderful to see Clonee grow and thrive, and we are proud to support this great new community resource, right at the heart of the village.”
