Work progressing on new Trim cemetery
Work is progressing well on the new cemetery in Trim which is being built on the Rathnally Road on the outskirts of the town.
A footpath from the town to the burial ground to provide safe pedestrian access has also been completed.
The Loganstown Burial Ground to serve Trim and the surrounding municipal area, is being built on a 13 acre site purchased by Meath County Council at Loganstown, Newtown, Littlerath and Kiltoome, on the Rathnally Road.
The burial ground will provide 2,400 single burial plots, and will also include a garden of remembrance and columbarium wall for the internment of urns. The cemetery will include internal access roads and footpaths to accommodate vehicular access and walking access aisles.
With limited spaces left in St Loman's Cemetery, pressure had been mounting in recent years to find a site to build a new cemetery to serve Trim and the surrounding areas.
The new cemetery will be managed by Meath Co Council. The local authority has not yet announced when the new cemetery will be ready to start accepting burials.
