Gibbstown youngster led out the Manchester United team for Premier League clash against Aston Villa

A MANCHESTER UNITED super fan from Gibbstown had her dream come true at Christmas after being chosen to be a mascot for the team.

Eight-year-old Clodagh Hagan led the team out alongside captain, Bruno Fernandes for their clash again Aston Villa at Old Trafford on St Stephen’s Day.

Clodagh flew to Manchester to carry out the very exciting duty with her mum and dad Paddy and Michelle and sisters Jessica (11) and Becky (10).

The football fan who attends Scoil Naomh Barra in Wilkinstown got the opportunity through the Manchester Utd Foundation and was “over the moon” to be front and centre alongside the biggest names in sport with the Reds winning 3 - 2 to top the day off.

“She was on a waiting list for a year-and-a-half and we got the call two weeks before Christmas to say that she was selected for it so there was great excitement in the house,” said Clodagh’s dad Paddy.

Clodagh met all of the players including manager Erik ten Hag and Marcus Rashford but “took it all in her stride” according to the proud dad who said:

“She met all of the players before the game and they were very good to her.”

“She also got the chance to go out on the pitch to watch them warming up.

“Then closer to kick off she was waiting in the tunnel with the team and Bruno Fernandes held her hand going on to the pitch.

“It was an amazing experience and something she will remember forever.”
