Seasonal joy for Boyne CS with win over Rochfortbridge

Meath school hit back after losing to same opponents at group stage

Boyne Community School claimed the second years' North Leinster B Football Championship with an extremely impressive, 2-8 to 0-4 win over a heavily fancied St Joseph's Rochfortbridge side.

St. Joseph's had beaten all their opposition quite comprehensively (Including Boyne in group stage) along their route to the final.

The game was played in Kinnegad which was in great condition despite the wintry weather. The game was low scoring in the first half but was still very entertaining with some great tackling and hard hitting on display. Ben Healy (two points) and Caolan Comey grabbed the scores in first half which Boyne went in leading at half-time 0-3 points to 0-1.

The second half started with Boyne hitting a real purple patch with Conor Hassett scoring 1-2 and Cormac Walsh notching a couple lovely scores. A great team move led to John Mc Vann scoring a superb goal which put the result beyond doubt heading into the last few minutes of play.

Huge Credit to both teams on a good display of football. Boyne CS had outstanding performances all over the field and thoroughly deserved their victory.

Lee Kearney put in a real captains performance and lifted the trophy on behalf of his team-mates.

The players expressed their thanks to the management team of Mr Lynch , Mr Ryan and Mr Moran for their work with this team.

Boyne CS now advance to the Leinster series after Christmas.
