Corrigan to guide fortunes of Meath u-20 hurlers
Preparations already well underway for 2024 campaign
The well-known and widely popular Seán Corrigan will guide the fortunes of the Meath u-20 hurling team for 2024.
Corrigan, who was recently appointed to the role, was part of the Kildalkey teams that won SHC titles in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
He brings with him to the Meath job a vast experience in the small-ball game. That and an unstinting dedication to do the best job he can. It's the way he is.
'Crash,' as he is also widely known as, was always fully committed no matter what role he took on - and it won't be any different in his new posting.
In 2021, for instance, he helped Kildalkey win the Billy Byrne Cup in Rathmolyon as a player and a few hours later was part of the Ballivor management team that guided the Maroons to victory in the Meath u-20 D football championship final at Dunganny.
A strong, dependable defender Corrigan also filled in as goalkeeper for Kildalkey at junior level when needed and did well there too, something that underlined his versatility as a player. He also enjoyed championship success with the Kildalkey juniors.
He also was good enough to turn out in the green and gold of his native county during his eventful and successful playing career.
The same dedication to the cause applied to football and he has, in recent years, coached the Ballivor intermediate team.
However now he is stepping up to guide the county's emerging crop of young hurlers.
"We are delighted to have Sean on board as the Meath u-20 manager. We are very fortunate indeed to have someone of his experience and commitment," said Martin O'Halloran, the chairman of the Hurling Committee.
"Sean has been a great servant to the game in the county at both club and inter-county levels over the years and we wish him well in his role as manager."
Meath will be playing in the Leinster u-20 HC proper in 2024 with games getting underway in March.
Already training has started in preparation for those assignments.
