Aldi store proposed for Johnstown

An Aldi supermarket could soon be on the cards for Johnstown following the lodging of a planning application for a single-storey food store on the Metges Road.

Byrnell Developments Ltd is seeking planning permission for the construction of a single storey retail food store of 1,840 sqm (1,315 sqm net retail) with ancillary off-licence sales area and external service area, illuminated signage and a car park for 89 cars and 10 bicycle spaces at Metges Road, Johnstown, Navan. A single access/egress is also proposed.

The documentation and drawings accompanying the application indicates that the retail facility when complete would be occupied by German retailer Aldi.

Aldi has one existing store in Navan, which is located at Brews Hill in the town centre.
