Emergency services at the scene of hotel blaze

Emergency services remain at the scene this evening after responding to a blaze at the Glenside Hotel outside Drogheda earlier today.

A crew from Drogheda Fire Service responded initially and were supported by crews from Balbriggan and Navan.

A spokeperson for Meath County Council confirmed that Meath Fire Services were alerted to a fire shortly after 12pm today at a premises in Drogheda, Co Meath and that a Drogheda fire crew responded initially, supported by crews from Balbriggan and Navan.

"While the fire caused significant damage to a large room in the east side of the building, crews successfully contained the fire and brought it under control quickly, preventing it from spreading to the remainder of the premises.

"Some areas of the building have sustained smoke and water damage. No injuries have been reported.

"One fire crew remains on site carrying out dampening‑down operations and ensuring the safe handover of the building.

In a post on the Glenside Hotel's Facebook page, hotel management outlined that they are closed due to a fire and confirmed that everybody was safe and well.

"We are sorry to say we are closed until further notice. Thankfully everybody is safe and well," the post said.

" We are working towards contacting all of our bookings as soon as possible. Please bear with us."
