Man found with 80 packs of Illegal cigarettes

A 56 year-old man found with 80 packets of illegal cigarettes and cash pleaded guilty in Trim District Court. Leovam Moldovan of Tailteann Crescent, Navan appeared in court which heard that the charges arose on 1st October 2023 when the defendant was stopped at Abbeylands, Navan.

A search was carried out under the Finance Act and 80 packets of cigarettes were found along with over €1,240 in cash. Judge McKiernan convicted and fined the defendant €250, and granted an order for the destruction of the cigarettes.
