Wilkinstown preparing for the wedding of the year
Excitement is building in Wilkinstown as the community prepares for the wedding of the year!
Wilkinstown Community Centre is hosting a mock wedding fundraiser in the Headfort Arms Hotel on Saturday, 2nd May - an event that has really captured the local community’s imagination.
“We are overwhelmed by the incredible support the event has received. I’m delighted to say that the wedding celebration in the Headfort Arms Hotel is now sold out, which is a fantastic response from the community,” said Tara Smith, PRO of Wilkinstown Community Centre.
“For anyone who missed out on tickets to the main event, evening tickets are now available (in Mace Wilkinstown), and we would love to see more people come along to join the evening celebrations.”
The mock wedding fundraiser is being organised to help raise funds to tarmac the new car park, which will be the finishing touch for the centre.
Over the past five years, Wilkinstown Community Centre has expanded significantly with the addition of a new building, a wonderful amenity park with playground, and a MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area). The centre welcomes over 500 people through its doors every week, taking part in a wide variety of activities, classes and events and completing the car park will greatly improve access and safety for everyone who visits the centre.
“I want to sincerely thank all the participants who volunteered to take part in our mock wedding, from the “happy couple” and bridal party to everyone working behind the scenes to make the event possible.
A huge amount of time, creativity and goodwill has gone into organising what promises to be a fantastic night,” said Tara.
“A special word of thanks must also go to all of our generous sponsors, local businesses, ticket purchases and all who have supported the fundraiser.
“Their backing means a great deal and shows the wonderful community spirit that exists in Wilkinstown and the surrounding areas.
“Events like this remind us just how strong our community is, and I’m hopeful the fundraiser will help us complete the final piece of the project while enjoying a great night out together.”
