Army Bomb Disposal Team disable device found near Kells
A 100 year old viable hand grenade, found in the Backwater near Kells, was made safe by an Army Bomb Disposal team this evening (Wednesday).
The device was discovered near the Headfort Bridge by a fisherman, who contacted the Gardai.
The grenade was described as being 100 years or more old, but in a viable condition.
The bomb disposal team disabled the device in a controlled explosion shortly after 6pm.
