Body discovered after fire at house where two died in December arson attack

Garda are investigating all the circumstances of a house fire that occurred this morning at a domestic residence in Castleview Park, Edenderry, Co. Offaly.

The body of an adult has been discovered inside the premises, which is the same house where Mary Holt and Tadhg Farrell were murdered in December 2025 in an arson attack.

Gardaí and other emergency services attended at the scene, early this morning Tuesday, March 24, and remain there.

A post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, which will determine the course of any Garda investigation.

The fire has been extinguished by local Fire Services.

The scene is currently preserved for forensic examination, the results of which will also assist in determining the course of any Garda investigation.
