Man sent for trial over possession of child sexual abuse imagery

A 56 year-old man described as a part-time farmer was sent forward for trial in respect of two pornography charges to Trim Circuit Criminal Court.

The accused is charged with possession of pornography on 27th April last year, and on a separate date on 23rd December 2023 with distribution of pornography.

He was served with a copy of the book of evidence on Tuesday, and appeared then at Trim District Court.

Judge Eirinn McKiernan fixed bail and remanded the accused to appear at the next sitting of the local circuit court on 28th April.

She made an order that the accused’s legal team receive copies of interviews.

An objection was indicated to bail by the Garda who served the book of evidence and applied for the accused to be returned for trial.

After hearing from his solicitor on his circumstances, Judge McKiernan granted the accused legal aid.
