Truth, Love or Promise centrestage in Ratoath for International Women's Day

To mark International Women’s Day, Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training (DCFET) are staging a special performance of Nuala McKeever’s play ‘Truth, Love or Promise’ at The Venue, Ratoath on Tuesday 10th March at 12.30pm.

This powerful and thought-provoking award winning play, originally commissioned by DCFET in 2023 celebrates women’s voices, experiences, and stories with warmth, honesty, and humour — making it a perfect way to recognise International Women’s Day.

Tickets, which must be reserved in advance are free. The play and a short Q & A with Nuala McKeever will last approximately 90 minutes.

The one-woman play was commissioned by Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training (DCFET) to mark its mark Dunboyne College’s 20th anniversary and International Women’s Day in 2023, It has since won a national IMRO award and was nominated for one of the world’s most prestigious international broadcasting prizes. The IMRO Radio Awards are recognised as the highest honours in Irish radio, celebrating the creativity, innovation, and excellence that shape the Irish broadcasting landscape.

Reflecting on the success of the play, Nuala McKeever said: “It was a privilege to be invited by Dunboyne College to create a piece that marked such an important milestone in its history. The play was born out of conversations about truth, connection, and what it means to live authentically — themes that I think resonate with us all. I am honoured that the work continues to be recognised on both a national and international stage.”

Principal of Dunboyne College, Catherine Fox, added: “We wanted our 20th anniversary celebration to be more than a marker of time — it was about telling a story that reflects the values of our college community: creativity, resilience, and the courage to explore big ideas. Johanna Dawe, a teacher in DCFET conceived of the idea of commissioning Nuala to write a play which would be a lasting legacy of the 20th anniversary. Nuala captured the spirit of our values brilliantly. Its success underscores Dunboyne College’s commitment to fostering creativity through the development of a range of courses, innovation in the work undertaken by our staff and students, and collaboration with the creative arts sector.”
