Much loved James Moran who passed away in June 2025.

€5,500 raised for Clann Mór in memory of James

The family of the late James Moran, a long-time service user of Clann Mór Respite House, has raised €5,500 in his memory to support the service that meant so much to him.

James, who passed away in June 2025, was a well-respected and much-loved member of the Rath, Kilmore and Moynalvey communities near Kilcock and was equally cherished by his friends and staff in Clann Mór and Rehab Day Services in Meath.

His parents, Martin and Carmel Moran, together with Martin’s sisters Mary Gorman and Teresa Maguire, organised a table quiz night and a series of other fundraising events to celebrate James’ life and give back to the services that supported him for almost two decades.

The Moran family recently presented a cheque for €5,500 to Clann Mór Respite House.

“Clann Mór was such an important part of James’s life,” said Martin Moran. “He was always treated with kindness, dignity and great affection. As a family, we wanted to say thank you for the care, support and friendship shown to James over the years, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who supported our fundraising in his memory.”

“James was a very special person and was greatly loved by everyone who met him,” added Carmel Moran. “The support from friends, neighbours and the wider Kilcock and Meath communities has been incredible. This donation is our way of keeping James’s memory alive in a place he loved.”

Joe Lynch, Clann Mór CEO, paid tribute to James and the generosity of his family: “James brought great warmth and joy to Clann Mór over the years. He will always be remembered with fondness by the people he lived, socialised and spent time with here,” he said.

“We are deeply grateful to Martin, Carmel, their extended family and all who contributed to this remarkable fundraising effort. Their generosity will directly support our respite house and the adults with intellectual disabilities and their families who rely on our services.”

As requested by the family, funds raised will be used to support the services for the 67 respite users at Clann Mór House respite, ensuring that other individuals and families across Meath can continue to benefit from high-quality, person-centred respite support.
