Father and son in court over public order incident
An Oldcastle father and son appeared before Trim District Court arising from an early morning public order incident involving Garda in Kells last summer.
John P Cullen (46), and son Jonathan (23), both described as hard working by their solicitor with an address at Domano, Millbrook, Oldcastle pleaded guilty to offences on Tuesday. The former was prosecuted for refusing to give his name and address, while his son was summonsed for being intoxicated and with threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour.
Court presenter, Sergeant Alan Radcliffe said that the incident occurred on 8th June last at Cross Street, Kells. Teresa Coyle, solicitor for the men said the defendants ran a carpentry business. She explained that a very close family member passed away.
There had been an earlier incident which had caused them to be in heightened emotion. The men had never been before a court. She asked the Judge to leave them without a conviction. Judge Michael Connellan struck out the summonses on each defendant donating €300 to charity.
