Primary school pupils from Lismullen NS, St Stephen’s NS, St Oliver Plunkett NS and Cushinstown NS gathered in St Oliver’s NS, Navan, for an exciting Féile Ficheall Tournament as part of the Masters Section competition.
Play got underway at 9.30am sharp, with competitors quickly settling into their round one matches.
The tournament followed a structured format, with a short break every 20 minutes to allow players to stretch and reset before returning to the board.
There were plenty of intense expressions around the room as concentration levels soared and strategies unfolded move by move.
The atmosphere was focused yet friendly, with each school proudly represented and giving their all.
We wish all the young chess enthusiasts the very best as the tournament continues.
