Unsettled weather continues for Meath

Motorists across Meath have been urged to take care as Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow wind warning yesterday for the county as part of a series of weather alerts nationwide.

The yellow wind warning for Meath, along with Dublin, Louth, Wexford and Wicklow, will come into effect at 11pm tonight and remain in place until 1pm on Wednesday.

A snow warning was issued for eight counties on Friday 13th February last week as a nationwide Status Yellow low temperature/ice warning came into effect at 9pm last Friday night and stayed in place until 10am on Saturday morning.

Met Eireann warned yesterday that freezing temperatures are set to continue into this week.

The warnings follow several weeks of unsettled weather, with persistent rainfall leading to flooding in a number of areas across the country, including parts of Meath.

Road users are being advised to slow down, allow extra time for journeys and remain alert to changing weather conditions.

Today sees highs off just five to seven degrees across the county, with temperatures set to drop to 3 degrees tonight.

It will turn wet and windy overnight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle becoming widespread.
