Stamullen man on drugs charges told to ‘get his own probation report’

A MAN who pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis for sale or supply was told by a judge to get his own probation report because “probation services are out the door”.

Judge John Martin made the comment when Philip Sheenan from Mill Road, Stamullen was in Trim Circuit Court on 28th January charged with possession of drugs for sale or supply. Mr Sheenan pleaded guilty to having over €13,000 worth of cannabis at his home on 10th December 2024.

The court heard Mr Sheenan was dealing with a cocaine and cannabis addiction at the time but went to St.Patrick’s residential treatment and has been drug free since.

Judge Martin said the accused will have to obtain his own probation reports because “probation services are out the door” with the current services struggling to keep up.

Mr Sheenan will next be in court on 28th April for a mention date.

Separately, a 32 year old man has pleaded guilty to being in possession of over €13,000 worth of ketamine.

Ryan Francis Grace from Rathmolyon was in Trim Circuit Court charged with possession of drugs for sale or supply on 3rd April last year.

Mr Grace will next be in court on 28th April for mention.
