Racing at Navan in doubt for Sunday
Sunday's card that included the Boyne Hurdle and the Ten Up novice chase is now in doubt following serious rainfall
Navan Racecourse have announced that Sunday's card at the Meath track is in serious doubt following heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours.
Sunday’s card includes two Grade Two contests, the Boyne Hurdle and the Ten Up novice chase.
In a statement published on Navan racecourse’s facebook Clerk of the Course Brian Hamilton said that the track is currently unfit for racing and a further inspection will take place at 3pm today.
"Following 35mm of rain in the last 24 hours at Navan, the track is now unfit for racing due to waterlogging,” said Hamilton
"There was a Status Yellow rainfall warning introduced for Meath late morning yesterday and since then we have got significantly more rain than was initially forecast.”
"The Status Yellow warning is to end at 12pm today and we could get a further 5-10mm of rain, however from later today we do have a more favourable forecast and it is to be mainly dry and breezy tomorrow into Sunday.”
"Due to the current conditions and the favourable forecast we will have an inspection at 3pm on Saturday to assess the situation and we'll give a further update then."
