Man spotted concealing drugs in underwear at music festival
Concealed drugs in underwear
A 22 year-old man from Dublin was before Trim District Court after he was observed concealing drugs in his underwear at Navan Racecourse.
The drugs were sent for analysis to the Forensic Science laboratory and contained 79grams of ketamine. The drug was wrapped up in plastic deal packets.
Cian Kershaw of Croftwood Grove, Ballyfermot faced two counts of possessing and being in possession of the drug for sale or supply.
Garda Matthew McKenna told he was on covert duty at the Higher Vision Festival at the racecourse on 18th June 2022 when he seized the drugs from the defendant.
The court heard the value of the drug was €474.
The Garda told defence barrister Paul Noctor that he didn’t witness the defendant make any deals.
Mr Noctor put it to the witness the reason he thought the defendant was dealing was because of the quantity of drugs on his person.
Sergeant Peter Clarke told the defendant had 12 previous convictions.
Judge McKiernan issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the defendant who was not in the court. She granted an application for the destruction of the drugs.
