Athboy CS edged out Beaufort College on Tuesday to claim the u-17 Div 3 North-East league cup. It was a second success in the space of two days for the school after the u-19 team sealed their league against the same opposition on Monday.

Beaufort started strongly and made the breakthrough after 20 minutes. Athboy bounced back before the interval and grabbed two goals through Cillian Griffin and Lovely Nosakhara. The second-half was an intense affair but Athboy were able to withstand the tough conditions and closed out the game well.

It was a brilliant victory for the u-17’s who will join the u-19’s representing the school in the Leinster Champions League in March.

Dylan O’Meara was outstanding up front while Armandas Bartoska and Christopher Monaghan were solid at the back.
