Tributes paid to 'kind and gentle' Meath doctor

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved hospital doctor after his shock passing in Co. Meath
A GoFundMe page set up to help with the funeral costs of Dr Emmanuel Ogwu from Duleek raised over €5,000.
The death of the doctor who worked in the general surgery department at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan has sent shockwaves through the community and the huge number of tributes paid to him noted especially his 'infectious and bright smile.'
"We are all so shocked and saddened by your sudden death. You will always be remembered for your lovely big smile and friendly handshake, followed by a verse from your bible. So kind, gentle and courteous, a huge loss to your family and many friends," said one mourner.
"I am heartbroken," said another who added, "he was such a kind, caring and gentle man who went above and beyond for anyone he came into contact with. A pure gent and loved by all."
"How precious to leave the memory of a beautiful smile," wrote a Navan resident.
A colleague in the hospital said: "Dr Emmanuel was one of the most hard working doctors I have ever known."
"Dr Emmanuel was an absolute gentleman, so kind to everyone, a friendly, smiling face and welcome greeting to everyone every morning. So humble and generous. We will all miss him so much," said another colleague.
Dr Emmanuel is survived by his mother Helen Ogwu, wife Grace, brothers Jacob, Dickson, Lucky and Dr Samuel, sister Susan, relatives and friends.
A service of song will take place on Friday, 16th January at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Glasnevin. His remains will repose at James Fox's Funeral Home Navan on Saturday, 17th January followed by burial in St Finian's Cemetery in the town.
