Happy 100th, Teresa! Navan woman's big birthday milestone

Navan woman Teresa Lynch was joined by family and friends at Trim Castle Hotel to celebrate her 100th birthday on Sunday.

Teresa was born in Dublin in 1926, the youngest of four Kennedy girls who were very close all their lives.

She married Limerick man married James (Jim) Lynch in Aughrim Street Church in 1953 and they had six children, Michael, Elizabeth, Kevin, Teresa, Patrick and Catherine. The couple moved to Navan in November 1977 when Jim started his role as a health and safety officer in Tara Mines. Since then there have been three generations of the Lynch family working in the mines - Jim, their son Patrick and currently their grandson, Simon. They lived in Woodlands which was a fantastic place for families in the 1970s and '80s and still to this day, with wonderful neighbours there. James sadly passed away in 1993, and their son Kevin in 2023, and more recently her son-in-law, Peter.

Teresa has nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a great great grandchild due this year.

Late in 2024, Teresa made the decision to move into Millbury Nursing Home where she has made great new friends and is very happy and very well looked after by the fantastic team there.

When she moved to Navan in 1977, Teresa added the Meath Chronicle to her newspaper reading list and remains an avid reader, never missing a week, so we are delighted to wish her a happy 100th birthday, and many more birthdays to come!
