Kicked hospital staff member

A 47 year-old woman kicked out and struck a staff member after she was treated at the accident and emergency department of Our Lady’s Hospital Navan.

This resulted in Ellen Joyce of Ashbrook, Clougherboy Park, Navan being charged with assault causing harm.

Trim District Court heard that the victim suffered bruising arising from the incident on 2nd May 2023 when the defendant was leaving the hospital.

The injured party didn’t wish to make a victim impact statement.

Judge Eirinn McKiernan was told that the victim didn’t require medical attention.

The Judge put the case back to a date in February to allow the defendant make an €300 donation to MCDAR (Meath Drug and Alcohol Service). She said the charge would be struck out if the contribution was paid.
