Carol rewarded for Random Act of Warmth

Dunboyne woman Carol Dillon is one of three lucky winners from the WillowWarm 'Random Acts of Warmth' campaign that sought out people who went above and beyond to provide help and kindness in their local community.

Last month WillowWarm asked the public to nominate a worthy neighbour, friend or family member who has gone out of their way to help and be kind, in their ‘Random Acts of Warmth’ campaign.

Over 1,300 nominations were received so it was no easy task to choose the winners!

The prize for the three lucky nominated winners is a beautifully curated WillowWarm Hamper worth over €300, filled with premium WillowWarm briquettes and some heart-warming goodies, hand-delivered by Dermot Bannon.

Each of the three lucky winners were very deserving and incredibly thrilled and surprised with their nomination and visit from Dermot Bannon.

Carol Dillon, a Special Needs Education teacher was nominated by Síle Smith for her compassion and kindness she showed to her son Senan who was diagnosed with Autism.

Carol guided Síle through a very lonely road when Senan’s education journey started four years ago. He was a very sick child who was fed via a nasogastric tube and machine for a year and a half. He was also nonverbal and had medical needs that required a professional but compassionate teacher they could trust.

“My son had the best start thanks to Carol. She is one in a million and highly regarded in our village," said Sile.

“She is amazing, amazing. Senan was her fourth student in the school in Dunboyne. She set us up on our autism journey and it’s an absolute huge credit to her and all the families she’s worked with. It’s just fantastic. And we’re all so grateful for Carol. And now Senan has started school in Dunboyne, it’s because of Carol, she built the foundation, but she’d never admit it.”

The other winners were Fiona Gammell of Wicklow Animal Welfare and Dublin Airport Firefighter Stephen Gallagher.

In addition to the winners, the Meath company WillowWarm also posted out little surprises to a collection of deserving nominees across the country, such as Audrey, a local Lollypop lady, Jane, a Clown doctor at Crumlin and Alan, a kind and selfless neighbour.

And as we head into Christmas and the cold snap, don’t forget to nominate WillowWarm as the fuel of choice for your own home too this year. WillowWarm is  a carbon-neutral, sustainably grown home fuel produced in Co Meath, that has the stamp of approval from Dermot who is a self-confessed fan of a cosy fire and huge advocate of sustainability and avoidance of reliance on fossil fuels.
