Meath schools set to shine at Peace Proms 2026
Aishling Monaghan
Meath will be proudly represented on some of Ireland’s biggest stages in the new year, as 20 schools from across the county prepare to take part in Peace Proms 2026, one of the most uplifting and unifying musical events on the island of Ireland.
Pupils from Meath will join thousands of children from Ireland and Northern Ireland as part of the Children’s Peace Choirs, performing alongside the acclaimed Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI) in a series of arena concerts in Dublin, Waterford, Belfast and Limerick.
For the children involved, Peace Proms consists of months of rehearsals, all building towards the unforgettable experience of performing on a major stage as part of something truly special. It’s about collaboration and the simple joy of music - lessons that last well beyond the final applause.
Founded in 1995, the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland has spent more than 30 years using music as a bridge between communities, promoting friendship and peace. That mission remains at the heart of Peace Proms 2026, which will bring together around 35,000 children nationwide in a powerful celebration of youth and unity.
Meath schools taking part this year include Navan E.T.N.S., Scoil Oilibhéir Naofa, St. Mary’s P.S., Enfield, St. Patrick’s N.S., Stamullen, Dangan N.S., Dunsany N.S., Kentstown N.S., Kilmainhamwood N.S., Kells, Scoil Naomh Bríd, Boherdmeen, St. Mary’s N.S., Ashbourne, St. Oliver Plunkett P.S., Navan, Ard Rí Community N.S., Clonmellon N.S., Gaelscoil Na Boinne, Gilson N.S., Oldcastle, Kilbeg N.S., Scoil Mhuire, Carlanstown, St. Columbanus’ N.S., St. Joseph’s N.S., Boyerstown, and St. Ultan’s N.S., Bohermeen.
The concerts themselves promise a spectacular experience, featuring the 100-member Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, dynamic conductor Greg Beardsell, lead violinist Richie Dunne, award-winning vocalist Lauren Murphy, Pipes and Drums from across the island, and stunning performances from Irish and Highland dancers.
As rehearsals continue and excitement builds, these Meath pupils will be counting down the days to stepping onto the stage, representing their schools, their communities and their county with pride.
Peace Proms 2026 is set to be a truly unforgettable experience for the children involved, and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when young voices come together in harmony.
