Appeal to support Benjamin's family with funeral costs
Following the devastating conclusion of the search for 14-year-old Benjamin Spot with the recovery of his body from the River Boyne on Saturday, a Go Fund Me appeal has been launched to help his heartbroken family with funeral costs.
Benjamin 'Benny' Spot had been missing since 19th November and was last seen in the Kentstown Road/Ramparts area. His bicycle was found at the edge of the river the next day.
Searches had been ongoing daily since then along the River Boyne involving many voluntary groups and on day 24 of the search his body was sadly recovered in the Beauparc area by Meath River Rescue.
A family friend, Masa Golik, has set up an appeal to help Benny's dad Attila with funeral costs and to support the family at this very difficult time.
"It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Benny, a 14-year-old son who brought so much love and light into the lives of everyone that knew him. His sudden loss has left his family facing unimaginable grief," said Masa on the appeal page.
"Benjamin was known for his smile, his laugh and kind heart. He touched so many lives in his short time and will always be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him.
"During this incredibly difficult time his father Attila is facing unexpected funeral and memorial expenses. I am creating this Go Fund Me to help ease the financial burden so father can focus on grieving and honouring his son without additional stress and spend time with his remaining son.
"All funds will go directly to funeral costs and any related expenses. Any contribution no matter the amount and sharing this page will be more than words can express. Thank you for your love, prayers and support during this difficult time. And massive thank to Meath River Rescue for bringing Benny home."
