Over 200 local outlets supporting and accepting Mí Meath Gift Card
Over 200 stores and local services, including national retailers, are now accepting Mí Meath Gift Card with the message being sent out to 'support local' this Christmas.
County Meath Chamber has confirmed there has been overwhelming support form the business community countywide for the drive where shoppers can “support Meath with every purchase.”
Gift cards can be purchased online at mimeath.ie or directly from selected retailers across the county.
“Sales of Mí Meath Gift Cards have increased significantly, and the response from both retailers and employers has been tremendous,” said Paula McCaul, CEO of County Meath Chamber. Following last year’s partnership with Me2You, the number of participating national retailers has grown substantially, and local retailer registrations are now at their highest level. Major brands including Smyths Toys, Applegreen, TK Maxx, SuperValu, Tesco, The Johnstown Estate, Emerald Park, TravelShop.ie, Crinions Furniture, and Radical Runner are all now accepting Mí Meath Gift Card payments. The full list is available online.
“Every euro spent on a Mí Meath Gift Card stays in our county and supports local businesses, local jobs, and the circular economy in our community,” she explained. The Chamber estimates that the gift card has the potential to generate up to €1 million in annual spend for the Meath economy. Road signage across the county also highlights that every Mí Meath Gift Card purchase supports local businesses.
“If you give a Mí Meath Gift Card to family, friends, or work colleagues this Christmas, you’re giving them the freedom to spend in hundreds of shops and businesses across every town and village in County Meath. Anyone lucky enough to receive one will be spoilt for choice when deciding where to use it. That’s why we believe Mí Meath Gift Cards are truly for everyone.”
County Meath Chamber’s ongoing Christmas campaign aims to raise awareness of the gift card and its economic impact, with a particular focus on growing uptake among employers.
“We encourage all Meath employers to choose Mí Meath Gift Cards when rewarding their staff. Under the Small Benefits Exemption scheme, employers can give up to €1,500 tax-free per employee each year. It’s a simple way to recognise staff while supporting local businesses — a win win for Meath,” said Niamh Giffney, President of County Meath Chamber.
The Mí Meath Gift Card is widely accepted across the county from hotels, restaurants, boutiques, and health and beauty providers to supermarkets, local services, and activity-based businesses. It’s easy to buy and always enjoyable to spend, it's a simple idea that works.
“Meath County Council is proud to support the Mí Meath Gift Card initiative, which strengthens our local economy and celebrates the vibrancy of businesses across the county. This campaign is a powerful reminder that every purchase made locally helps sustain jobs, communities, and the unique character of Meath. I encourage employers and residents alike to choose Mí Meath this Christmas and beyond,” said Kieran Kehoe, Chief Executive, Meath County Council.
