Virginia man reacted 'inexcusably' towards Garda
Trim District Court heard that a 31 year-old man attempted to spit and kick at Garda when they responded to a report that he was acting aggressively and abusively.
The incident at Tankardstown House on 10th September last resulted in Peter Connell of Cormaddyduff, Virginia being charged with obstructing Garda, and engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour.
When the Garda arrived the defendant was lying on a couch and there was a strong smell from him.
He acted aggressively to the Garda, telling them to “...off.”
He became extremely aggressive when the Garda attempted to place him in a patrol car.
Solicitor Maurice Regan said the defendant was extremely apologetic. The defendant was asleep when the Garda arrived. It was 5.40am and when awoke, re-acted in an inexcusable manner. His first memory was waking up in a Garda Station,
Judge Eirinn McKiernan allowed the defendant time to pay €300 into the court poor, and then struck out the case.
