4x4 driver fined and banned after accident
The driver of a 4x4 with a trailer that was involved in an accident was over the alcohol limit.
As a result 44 year-old Matt Leonard of Knockabbey, Donadea pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of careless driving and drink driving.
The defendant received a three year driving ban and was fined €300 on the drink driving charge. Judge Eirinn McKiernan agreed to postpone the ban to January.
Trim District Court heard on Tuesday that the accident took place on 20th August 2023 at New Road, Baconstown, Enfield.
The defendant was driving round a bend when it occurred. He stopped a short distance away. He was found to have a urine/alcohol concentration of 303.
The defendant was charged with dangerous driving, but Judge McKiernan agreed to reduce it to careless driving.
