Primary Schools Final: Hat-trick hero Oisin Roche inspires Stackallen to victory

BOYS DIV 2/3 SHIELD

Hat-trick hero Oisin Roche inspired Stackallen to victory over St Anne's Navan in the Boys Div 2/3 Shield final at Trim on Sunday afternoon.

The wind certainly had a massive influence and as the old adage goes, it was a game of two halves.

The eventual winners Stackallen dominated the first-half. A brace of points from both Olly Timmons and Jack Black were followed by a very well taken Timmons goal.

Oisin Roche then hit 1-1 in quick succession before Timmons split the posts and after only seven minutes Stackallen led 2-7 to 0-0.

It wasn't until the 23rd minute that St Anne’s registered a score and further goals from Black and Roche ensured Stackallen held a healthy half-time advantage of 4-10 to 0-1.

St Anne’s had the wind at their backs in the second-half and they seized momentum immediately. James Regan hit four frees as the Navan side scored 0-7 on the spin. Despite a fantastic effort from St Anne’s which included a late goal for Aiden Finney, Roche put the final nail in the coffin with Stackallen’s fifth green flag.
