Water restrictions impacting customers in Moynalty

Unplanned water restrictions, which are affecting customers in Moynalty and the surrounding areas, are expected to be in place until about 3pm today.

Uisce Éireann yesterday (Wednesday) evening advised of the unplanned water restriction to facilitate the replenishing of Moynalty Water Treatment Plant due to a borehole pump issue.

An alternative water supply is located at Moynalty National School carpark A82 YV20.

Uisce Eireann says typically, it takes two to three hours following an outage for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

When water supply returns some customers may notice discoloured water and in the event of discolouration, Uisce Eireann advises that running the cold kitchen tap for several minutes - up to 20 minutes - will usually restore the water to a clear colour.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
