Public meeting to tackle Garda numbers and Laytown station delays
Residents of East Meath are being urged to attend a public meeting to discuss the ongoing lack of progress on a new Garda station in Laytown and Garda numbers across the county.
Sinn Féin TD for Meath East, Darren O’Rourke, alongside local councillor Maria White and Sinn Féin Justice spokesperson Matt Carthy TD, will host the meeting on Tuesday 25th November at 8pm in the Village Hotel, Bettystown.
Cllr White highlighted the urgency of the issue: “The most recent census shows East Meath is growing faster than the rest of the county, yet we continue to have one of the lowest Garda-to-population ratios in the state. Residents and businesses feel less safe as crime and anti-social behaviour rise. A permanent, fully staffed Garda presence is essential.”
Deputy O’Rourke added: “Year after year, Meath is left behind. We need sufficient Garda numbers and a fully functioning 24/7 station in Laytown to serve our growing communities. This meeting will update people on the work we are doing to hold the government to account.”
All are welcome to attend.
