Warm welcome for Marion (99), at Navan polling station, born a decade before office of the President of Ireland was established
There was a special moment at St Oliver’s Primary School polling station in Navan this week as local resident Marion McLarney arrived to cast her vote, accompanied by her daughter Claire Roe.
Marion, who lives on Flower Hill, was born in 1926, over a decade before the office of the President of Ireland was established. Now aged 99, she has lived through the entire terms of all ten Irish Presidents, from Douglas Hyde to Michael D Higgins to the newly appointed.
Neighbours and polling staff alike were delighted to see Marion and Claire taking part in the democratic process.
