Sentenced for theft, road traffic, and public order

A man was in Trim District Court for theft, public order, and road traffic offences on the same day.

Shane Mulligan (33), from Leadwell Park, Kilcock, was in for sentencing charged with theft, two public order offences, and driving without insurance.

He was convicted of the public order offences on 21st March 2021 and 6th December that same year. The court heard during the December offence he was acting aggressively in public and had to be subdued by Gardai. The court heard on 23rd April 2023 he stole €62 from Supervalu in Enfield and on 26th May 2020 he was found driving without insurance. He has 40 previous convictions with the most recent being on 24th March last year for criminal damage and burglary.

The defence told the court he has had a long term alcohol addiction. He has been offered a place on a farming course in January. Shane Mulligan was given a two month sentence suspended for 18 months on the theft matter with the other convictions taken into consideration.
