Slane Castle poised for 2026 concert return as fans await announcement

The wait continues at Slane Castle, as fans hold their breath for the official word on a 2026 concert with mounting speculation that the iconic Meath venue is preparing for another historic night of live music.

Excitement hit a fever pitch earlier this week when a teaser video was posted to the castle’s official Instagram account, strongly suggesting that American country music star Luke Combs will be part of the headline line-up for the next major concert at the world-renowned venue.

While no formal announcement has been made by the Mount Charles family or promoters, the signs point to a significant return for live music at Slane the first since Harry Styles drew a crowd of 80,000 in 2023.

Among those welcoming the concert’s return is local Fianna Fáil Councillor Wayne Harding, who paid tribute to the legacy of the late Lord Henry Mount Charles while expressing support for the next generation of the family now continuing that tradition.

“I welcome the announcement today that a rock concert will again take place at the world-famous Slane Castle venue,” said Cllr Harding.

“We are now into the fifth decade of world-famous acts appearing at the natural amphitheatre on the banks of the River Boyne. I wish Alex and his family well in what has been a difficult year for them, having lost Henry earlier this year the man whose vision saw Slane Castle become one of the world’s most iconic rock concert venues.”

Cllr Harding also confirmed that concert organisers have already opened early lines of communication with community leaders and local representatives.

“I know that the promoters have made initial contact with local representative bodies, and I will work with them and Meath County Council to enhance the already established benefits of the concerts for the local community.”

Should the rumours prove true, a 2026 show would not only bring Slane Castle back into the global spotlight but also open a new chapter for the venue under the stewardship of Alex Mount Charles.
