Extra game could be beneficial for Clanns

Clann na nGael were very impressive when they made light work of Dunderry in their quarter-final, but they will face a much stiffer challenge when they take on Slane in the JFC semi-final in Dunganny on Sunday evening.

Clann na nGael's Ben Corkery looks like a future senior county player and he is having a fantastic year. His partner in crime in the other corner, Tomas Doyle is also causing defences a lot of issues and the pair combined for 2-8 in that trouncing of Dunderry.

Slane have enough talent to beat any JFC side on their day and they are certainly motoring well this year. Having won the Junior B FC in 2023, last year didn't really go to plan for them but they have found their feet now in the junior ranks and it’s probably only a matter of time before you see them win one. However, if they are going to keep their chances alive, they will have to get the better of a Clann na n Gael side who are brimming with confidence.

Since the introduction of the current format of the Meath JFC in 2021, there has been no year where both teams who earned automatic semi-final spots made the final. Three of the last four winners contested the quarter-finals.

So there is a lot to be said for an extra game at this level and Clann na nGael will head into this semi-final with huge confidence.

Prediction - Clann na nGael.
