Women make a brave sea splash in Necret 'Dip in the Nip'

The Northeast 'Dip in the Nip' fundraiser made a triumphant splash as hundreds of women gathered at a secret beach location to raise vital funds for the Oncology Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

Despite strong waves and wild conditions, participants braced themselves and ran together into the sea, cheered on by volunteers and supporters.

The event has already raised thousands of euro, with donations still being counted. Organisers are confident the total will surpass last year’s record-breaking €63,000, bringing even greater support to cancer patients and families across the North East.

Liz Summersby, representing the Oncology Unit, and Karen Healy, one of the event organisers, said:

“The spirit on the beach was just incredible. Every single dipper faced down those waves with bravery and heart – and all in the name of supporting people going through the toughest of times. We are so grateful to everyone who dipped, donated, and volunteered .”

Now in its 15th year, the Northeast Dip in the Nip continues to be one of the region’s most unique and uplifting charity events, combining community spirit with an unforgettable experience of courage and fun. Funds raised go directly to NECRET - the North East Cancer Research and Education Trust - supporting the Oncology Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
