Meath TikToker set to host stall at 2025 Ploughing Championships
Donaghpatrick content creator Caolan Ward will be amongst several Irish creators at this year's National Ploughing Championships with TikTok in Tullamore, Co Offaly.
Caolan has garnered a following of over 50,000 on TikTok and over 25,000 on Instagram. The Wolfe Tones player mostly posts Gaelic football related videos to TikTok and Instagram.
Caolan said: “I mix in some skits and general life stuff too, all with the aim of having a bit of craic, showing the good and the bad, and aiming to be at least half decent at whatever it is I’m taking on.”
“I’ve always been interested in making videos and for years I’ve been more or less addicted to YouTube and at different times have tried my hand at video creation. Some readers may recall a football trick shot video long ago with my brother Fiachra and friend Niall O’Reilly."
Caolan’s TikTok and social media journey started around a year ago, when he had a brainwave to create a video and put it online.
“I was just bored one evening and I was struck with one of the many ideas I had gotten before of really wanting to make some sort of silly video, and for once I acted on it, making some stupid parody of chipping into a bucket in my garden.”
“Some videos later I recorded myself at the pitch kicking a load of wides and for some reason that seemed to resonate with people! I took that as a sign to continue with the GAA stuff.”
“There was a definite bump when the Gaelic Football Gauntlet was born. I’ve been trying to score six shots in a row without missing for a long time now. That is still a work in progress.”
The National Ploughing Championships 2025 takes place 16th to 18th September, where Caolan can be found at the TikTok tent on Wednesday 17th September. TikTok Shop is also set to make its physical debut at this year's Ploughing Championships with its live shopping experience.
The online shop, which features products sold by thousands of creators from all over the world including some incredible and creative Irish brands and businesses, will set up shop at the festival.
Along with TikTok Shop, the stand will be hosting an array of interactive activities, such as promoting online safety tips and skills in order to create safer online communities and bringing awareness to farm safety and farmer wellbeing. There will be other Irish creators alongside Caolan from the farming and Irish TikTok community, helping to promote and spread awareness.
“I’ll be there on Wednesday for a few hours, just having the craic! I’ll be messing around with the attractions they have set up, MCing a quiz about the importance of staying safe while being online, tricking around with some of their full-size filter screens, and otherwise shooting the breeze. Plus there should be some freebies to hoover up from the brands there!”
“Anyone and everyone is welcome to come over for a chat between 11am and 2pm. I’ve only been to the Ploughing once before and I recently learned that attending it actually makes you ten per cent more Irish.”
