Dunboyne singer CMAT nominated for prestigious Mercury Prize Award

Dunboyne musician CMAT has been nominated for the coveted Mercury Prize Award for Best Album for 2025.

CMAT, or Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, has been nominated for her third studio album 'Euro-Country'.

The singer-songwriter has put Dunboyne on the map recently with her skyrocketing success.

She recently unveiled a huge mural of herself in her hometown, which reads 'Welcome to Dunboyne, Home of CMAT'.

Yesterday she told BBC Radio 6 Music: 'I’m particularly proud of 'Euro-Country', so it really does mean the world to be nominated. Can’t wait to see you all at the Mercury Prize. I hope I win, but also if I don’t, no worries if not.'

The Meath woman was previously nominated for the Mercury Prize for her second studio album 'Crazymad, For Me' in 2024.

CMAT will go head to head with another Irish act, Dublin rock band Fontaines D.C, who are also nominated for their 2024 album, 'Romance'.

The annual award ceremony has been on-going since 1993, highlighting some of the best Irish and UK musical acts around and each year, is on the hunt for the best album in the UK or Ireland.

The awards will be held on 16th October 2025 in Newcastle, England.
