Meath well represented in LGFA All-star list

Meath Ladies remarkable run to a third All-Ireland SFC final in five years has been recognised with 10 nominations for All-star awards.

Although silverware evaded the Royals this year, they enjoyed a superb year with such a young team, comfortably securing their NFL Div 2 status, reaching the Leinster SFC final and advancing to the decider of the All-Ireland series following sensational wins over Kildare, Tipperary and Kerry.

Now 10 of the Meath players outstanding contributions have been recognised with All-star nominations, including goalkeeper Robyn Murray, defenders Áine Sheridan, Mary Kate Lynch, team captain Aoibhín Cleary and Sarah Wall, midfielder Marion Farrelly, and forwards Niamh Gallogly, Ciara Smyth, Emma Duggan and Vikki Wall.

All-Ireland SFC winners Dublin lead the way on the list of nominations with 12 nominees in the 45-player long list.

NFL Div 1 champions Kerry are next in line after Meath with seven, while Galway have six players nominated.

There are three Waterford nominees, two each for Armagh and Cork, and one apiece for Kildare, Mayo and Tipperary on the list compiled by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s All-Star committee.

On the 2025 All-star team, one goalkeeper will be chosen from the shortlist of three, with three players selected from each of the full-back, half-back, half-forward and full-forward lines, along with two midfielders from the six nominated.
