Hundreds march for Palestine in Navan

Hundreds rallied in Navan to show their support for the Palestinian people and to encourage the government to pass the Occupied Territories Bill.

Thousands attended Pro-Palestine rallies across the country organised Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC). This included those that gathered outside the US embassy in Dublin before marching to the Department of Foreign Affairs. Around a thousand people also attended a similar demonstration in Belfast.

These demonstrations took place to promote the Occupied Territories Bill and show the government the amount of public support there is for this bill to be passed.

Over a hundred Meath residents, including some musicians, marched around Navan waving both Meath and Palestinian flags while shouting their support.

As the rally stopped at Fairgreen next to St.Mary's Church, Meath IPSC Chairperson Moira Leydon, Sinn Féin TD Darren O Rourke, Susan Mkhabela from Cultúr Navan, Meath football manager Colm O’Rourke, and Sara Abu Marzouq spoke at the rally.

Ollie Flanagan singing at the rally

The two musicians Ollie Flanagan and tom Gibbons closed out the demonstration by singing rebel songs in support of Palestine.

“All we can do is carry our flags and sing our songs,” Ollie said. “We all feel so helpless but if we keep the pressure on the world will eventually wake up.”
