Navan Camera Club ready to open the shutters on a new season

Navan Camera club, founded in 1987 has been actively promoting photography at an enthusiast level for 38 years.

The club will open their new season on Monday 1st September 2025 with an overview of the programme of speakers, competitions and photographic outings for the 2025 - 2026 season.

The annual programme runs from September through May with meetings every Monday night from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

The scheduled programme includes talks by both local and International photographers on a range of topics including Travel, Wildlife, Sport, Landscape, Still Life, Portraiture and Astro Photography.

The club holds six competitions on a monthly basis throughout the season in three categories for Novice, Intermediate and Senior members. Judging of these competitions is carried out by Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) judges who offer constructive feedback on the submitted photographs, and provide ideas on how to improve photography techniques.

Navan Camera Club is a community that has grown over the years, and remains passionate about photography at all levels. The club boosts a wide cross section of members, whose experience ranges from advanced to beginner, and the ethos is that “everyday is a school day” where learning and sharing happens in a fun and exciting way in a socially active group.

Navan Camera club will run a 5 week course in photography starting on 8th October 2025, focusing on the smartphone or camera of choice. The course is set at a pace for the complete beginner, and builds on questions like ‘How do I take better photos’, ‘Why are my photos blurry’, or ‘Why are my photos too dark or too bright’.

NCC held their AGM in May this year, and presented awards to photographers who achieved the highest scores in annual monthly competitions and a ‘Print of the Year competition.
