No show like a Joe show at the Cic Ard Challenge
All Ireland Cic Árd (High Kick) Challenge Championships 2025
Joe Sheridan retained his Cic Árd title and St Ultan's, Rachel Casserly, is the new Ladies Champion of the St Ultan’s GFC All Ireland Cic Árd Challenge which took place last Monday at Sean Newman Park.
Joe kicked the ball 75ft over the elevated crossbar in the men’s competition. Rachel achieved a height of 45ft. All entrants had to deal with challenging wind conditions on the day and this added to the excitement and skill levels required. The event was well supported with players from clubs in Meath participating with a lucrative prize of €1,000 for both the Men’s and Ladies prizes.
St Ultan’s GFC would like to say a massive thank you to Tom O’Reilly from Tara Steel and Engineering. Not only is this event the brainchild of Tom, he very kindly sponsored all the prizes on the day for the adult competitions and commissioned the bespoke trophies from his premises at in Navan.
There were multiple other events on the day for both adults and children. Special mention must go to Conn Brennan from the St Ultan's Cortown Gaels minor team who won the long point competition, clearing the black spot from an incredible 60 metres. The winners of these events are as follows.

St Ultan's would like to express a huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported the 2nd Cic Árd event and Family Fun Day! They are so grateful to all the families, friends, players, and supporters who turned up to make the day such a success. Their generosity and good spirits helped create an incredible atmosphere from start to finish. A very special thank you goes out to the amazing volunteers—your time, effort, and commitment behind the scenes made everything run so smoothly.
Every cent raised went towards Caolán’s fight against Leukemia, and your support means more than words can say. Footage of the event will be on the St Ultans Men’s and Ladies social media accounts.
St Ultan's are very much looking forward to Cic Árd as an annual event here in the parish of Bohermeen with the continued support of Tara Steel and Engineering and welcoming contestants from all over Ireland and beyond.
