Impressive new extension for Mercy Secondary School approved

The school community at St Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School in Navan are excitedly planning ahead for their new extension following the grant of planning permission for the project,

“This is an incredibly exciting development for our school community. The new extension will be a part three-storey, part single-storey building providing five new classrooms, specialist rooms, a general-purpose dining area, and a new PE hall,” according to a post on the schools Facebook page.

“Additionally, the plans include a refurbishment and extension to the Mount Saint Carmel Building, a protected structure.

“We're also looking forward to new landscaped external spaces, and outdoor learning areas to enhance the connection between the buildings and improve the quality of life for our students.”

The Catholic Education Irish Schools Trust and the school's Board of Management have been granted planning permission for the project .

The development includes the refurbishment of, and the addition of a single storey extension to, the Mount Saint Carmel Building, a protected structure. Works include demolition of a previous single storey extension which is in poor condition. The extension to the main building consists of a three-storey extension with various new rooms including a general-purpose dining area, fitness suite and large multi-use hall. This new extension ties into the existing building at two separate locations at ground floor level, with an internal courtyard formed between the two access points.
