‘Every step is for those who don’t have a finish line to run towards’ - Kerryman to run marathon in Meath
A YOUNG man who plans to run a gruelling 32 marathons in 32 days will take on the Meath part of that challenge at the Porchfields in Trim on 9th August.
Brendán O’Neill will run the 26.2 mile distance in the Porchfields and will have some celebrity company along the way
He will be joined by the Meath Rose, Ella Bannon, Miss Ireland finalist, Kyleigh Britton, members of Trim Athletic Club and his sponsor for the Meath marathon, Roisin Greene of RG Fitness and Pilates. They will all run part of the distance with Brendán.
The 24 year-old Kerryman is taking on the 32 marathon challenge to raise funds for Focus Ireland.
"I am doing this to raise funds for the 15,000 plus people in this country who have no place to call home," he says.
"Homelessness in Ireland has reached crisis levels, children growing up in emergency accommodation, families living out of cars, men and women sleeping rough in every town and city across the country. This isn’t distant. This isn’t rare. It’s happening on our doorsteps."
He explains that each day from 23rd July to 23rd August, the fundraising run will pass through a different county—one marathon at a time.
"Every step is for those who don’t have a finish line to run towards. The funds raised go directly to Focus Ireland, a charity working every single day to fight homelessness and support people into permanent, safe housing."
The Meath leg of the mammoth challenge takes place on the 9th of August in Trim and Brendán would love to have as much support as possible on the day.
The Trim event is sponsored by Trim-based fitness and pilates instructor, Roisin Greene who offers in person and online fitness classes helping participants with their fitness levels, confidence and mental wellbeing.
Roisín is the dynamic force behind RG Fitness and Pilates based in Mill Lane and has been transforming lives through her fitness classes for the past 12 months.
She recently collaborated with The Meath Rose, Ella Bannon, hosting a fundraiser dance/aerobics class for Down Syndrome Ireland. This event not only raised funds for a worthy cause but also brought together a community of fitness enthusiasts for a fun, energetic workout session.
In addition, Roisin was the proud sponsor of Miss Ireland finalist Kyleigh Britton. This collaboration allowed Roisin to support a young, ambitious woman, further cementing her commitment to empowering individuals through fitness and wellness. Kyleigh placed in the top four as Miss Trim.
Roisin is a proud member of Network Ireland Meath, a professional networking organization for women. Her membership of this network reflects her commitment to professional growth and her desire to connect with and learn from other successful women in business.
